I didn't really know what to expect, but this was certainly a fitting October listen. It's not scary in the same way that other vampire books are, but this was disturbing in some truly gripping ways and was far more philosophical than I had anticipated. Frankly, it is also far stronger than I ever could have imagined and I think that strangeness contributed heavily to the element of suspense.
