it’s probably my fault for taking so long to read this and making my experience of the story so disjointed, but, right now, i’m just ready for it to be over.

but then again, if this book were truly interesting, wouldn’t i have inhaled it? i’m not impressed nor moved by some random, ancient, all-seeing spider creature weaving this story together. i’m not amazed when only one type of supernatural is validated and others are dismissed and trivialized. ambiguous endings are only good when it feels like something real has actually been accomplished.

the mystery aspect of this is wonderful. just when i think things are strange enough, they get stranger.

i really like the writing in act ii so far. specifically the standalone chapters from random people throughout lagos. these parts are kinda more interesting than the main plot right now.

idk if it’s because i’m rereading, but it really feels like this book should be more interesting than it is. it has all the makings of stories i like plus it’s set in the country of my people, but as i’m reading i just have the sense that i’m waiting for the plot to really start moving. i’m hoping once i pass where i stopped last time, the novelty of the rest of the story will capture my interest more.
