Thanks to this book, I will not be getting: a printer, a car, an implanted defibrillator, a grocery card etc etc etc. Anything that is a smart device, except for my phone, urgh, cause one can hardly exist without it 😭😭 the fact that printer companies data mine the text you print, after they've made you do a subscription for cartridges is insane.

Shit, this is just a chunk of labor abuses and market abuses I didn't even know about 😬

A really great bit he does where he dismisses the possibility of everything going to shit because of Mercury Retrograde - he can't get himself to believe that because he's a Cancer and everyone knows Cancers don't believe in astrology. I chuckled hard.

Have already listened to / read CD's blog on this topic, quite a lot, but he reads the audiobook and I enjoy how sassy he is.

Yeah, absolutely, it's not the device, it's the predatory practices, trying to get you to subscribe to everything!

The problem, after all isn't that the devices are smart, but instead that they do the bidding of corporations whose sole interest is short-term returns for shareholders.
