I love KH but there is an undercurrent to this book of what I can only describe as when older women who have experienced so much misogyny and sexual violence will drop the most horrifying traumatic lore like it’s funny. Like a “what are ya gonna do” kind of joke that is jarring and upsetting and the antithesis of a trigger warning. That’s my least favorite part of this as a woman with similar trauma.
