omg how is this is it worth all the pages

It’s really good but it got a bit sloggy working up hundreds of pages to the 1957 civil rights bill showdown. Idt that can necessarily be avoided because Caro is showing (in painstaking) detail all of the legislative chicanery by the southern bloc to stop even the most incremental progress for years. It is frustrating as hell because it was frustrating as hell to live through. I think means of ascent is my favorite of this series so far because his election to the senate in 1948 was so such a corrupt master stroke it’s hard to compare it. I split up master of senate into two parts and picked this back up after about six or seven months to make it more manageable.

Yeah that makes sense.. I've been reading the power broker for almost a year. I've been considering this series for after but I wonder if I'll be as invested than I am in the power broker
