Women led councils were not able to put women in decision making roles. Then the regime then took territory removing some councils and religious fundamentalist within the opposition put male clerics in control of other councils.

Uprisings spread to areas that had been supporting the regime.

Lots of similarities with the USA. Privatization, GDP growing but wages stagnating, religion used to control the conservative working class.
