I finished 6 chapters out of a total of 10 chapters, the saddest part in chapter 5 the last line said 'law requires children to go to school, but there's no practical way to implement it', the most unfortunate thing is the injustice for girls, Matsue has to take care of her 2 younger siblings and do housechores after her mother passed away, even though the child is only in 5th grade.
