Okay I’m finding it irritating that we’re supposed to understand that he’s traumatized and yet none of it is shown except for a few tiny parts here and there. It feels like a cop out to have a therapist be like you have ptsd and yet the author never really delves into that at all. Also, it’s quite… interesting as an Arab to read about this man’s “trauma” from being in Iraq…like ok

It’s hard to believe anything he says about his feelings because he’s kind of just…there. Things are happening to him rather than him being an active participant in anything in his life so I’m kind of finding it difficult to believe that he has any interest in anything…

Okay I will admit I’m not at all interested in this character but it is quite an easy read, maybe because of how detached and matter of fact he is about everything that it doesn’t really take a lot of mental effort to decipher what is actually happening. Will check back when I’m halfway through.
