I started my first Tolstoy novel recently, but chose Anna Karenina rather than this. So far it has been fantastic. His writing is interestingly well balanced alongside that of his compatriot Dostoevsky. Where Dosto was able to get at the raw psyche/soul of man but was somewhat chaotic in his story-telling, Tolstoy is an equally gifted story-teller but less chaotic and not as cerebral. I'll be interested to see how you like WP.
