Desire to love him better
"Cease to regard the gospel as a mere collection of dry doctrines. Look at it rather as the revelation of a mighty living Being in whose sight you are daily to live. Cease to regard it as a mere set of abstract propositions and abstruse principles and rules. Look at it as the introduction to a glorious personal Friend." (p.246)

“At our very best we are far worse than we ought to be. There will always be room for improvement in us. We shall be debtors to Christs mercy and grace to the very last. Then let us leave off looking at others, and comparing ourselves with others. We shall find enough to do, if we look at our own hearts.”

“A religion which costs nothing is worth nothing! A cheap, easy Christianity, without a cross, will prove in the end a useless Christianity, without a crown.”

“The presence and company of Christ will make amends for all we suffer here below… We are not far from home. It may cost much to be a true Christian and a consistent holy man-but it pays!”
