This book definitely makes me understand why I enjoy weird fiction rather than this grim dark fiction.

For all the interesting lore and world building that the author puts into this series, it is just vulgar for the sake of it. Violence against women for no other reason than to be edgy and say “you thought this society was bad but it’s actually this much worse”

I want to write more!!!! Damn character limits.

The thing about this book that bothers me so much is the fact that I know that I’ll never get a version of this world without the worst kind of edgelord bullshit. The more I listen to it the more I get angry.

The first book was not so bad but obviously the author felt they had to escalate for the second one and I can only dread how bad it would get in the future.

What a waste of an amazing world building concept.

This is definitely a guilty “pleasure” of mine.

I genuinely love the descriptive narration and the constant exposition that shares the world building.

The grim-dark nature of it is enjoyable a lot of the time but also a lot of the time it’s kind of embarrassing in a way that makes me question why I like it.

Still, it’s something to throw on in the background that I can listen to without thinking too much.
