I’ve been wanting to read this book, but I’ve put it off because I was afraid it would exhume the grief I’ve been trying to bury over the past few years. And I was not wrong, a few pages in and memories of my deceased father came rushing in. I was encircling lines that I would have written myself if I ever knew how to actually write. Turns out grief is a universal language. It’s the same for everyone.

For those who find this difficult to read because of the switching timelines, that is how it is when you're grieving. Everything leads you back to a memory of your dead loved one. It can be as simple as seeing the sun rise and how it reminds you of your dead father who used to make you soak in the sun's rays because it would make your bones stronger. Times were warped. The living and the dead intertwined in your head.
