I done got triggered on how Hazel did Lee. I understand her reasons, I really do, but finding out the truth after she had already fallen for someone else hits different. That kind of timing leaves no room for choice, no space to process, just hurt you have to swallow quietly. Speaking from my 16-year-old self, that part would’ve sat heavy. Nobody is intentionally wrong here, but the damage is still very real. Sigh.

For Adam to write Hazel’s vows means he’s deciding how she shows up, what she promises, and how her love is presented to the world. That’s not just help. That’s authorship. He’s shaping her voice at the most public, binding moment of her life.
It reads like: I know you better than you know yourself… and I’ll speak for you.

Hazel frowned. “You shouldn’t have to sacrifice yourself for everyone else. What about what you want?”
