yay me, i remembered i was in the middle of reading this!

also just here to say that i am mildly put out by the dialogue being written in apostrophes instead of quotation marks? not a writing choice i am accustomed to, but it doesn't cause me much issue, thankfully. still kinda hoping it won't continue in the series proper

so, like, i wasn't going to start another series because i want to start like a bazillion of those instead of continuing the ones i got started already, but this is a prequel novella, so i'm pretending it doesn't count as series proper. i'm just checking whether i vibe with the writing for a later time (is my excuse to myself)
