I f*cking hate „romance stories“ by male authors sometimes. What Roth is depicting as love is clearly nothing more than lust! His protagonist clearly does not like Brenda as a person! + all the other female characters mentioned (up to this point) are only viewed through the lens of physical attraction and prettiness or if they are effective in enacting gender roles to the „appropriate“ degree 🙄
