A lot happened with Erica in these last few pages. She got sick and iis in no contact with Changez which is extremely hard for him. Another thing that stuck out to me was on page 117 a man says to Changez "damn Arab". changez is obviously not an Arab, but after 9/11 people treat him differently. So after this interaction it shows how hard it must be for him to be accused, plus he doesn't have Erica to comfort him.

I found it interesting how the author keeps Chris in the story even though he's dead. Eria is so happy and when her and Changez are sharing intimacy she breaks down thinking of him, there must be a deeper meaning to Chris in the book. What does he represent? I have a feeling that Changez life is a rollercoaster with good news and bad news, but he finds a way to push past it. That's why I think he will be successful.

Changez's view of the American dream has finally changed. After hearing about 9/11 on TV, it changed him completely. What to think was a perfect place to have a great life turned into a nightmare. When he was going to the airport and trying to fly from a business trip, he was stopped and checked because of his race. I felt horrible that he had to deal with this because he did nothing and was still under suspicion.

Pages 46 to 61 was Changez talking to the American about Erica. When going to Erica's apartment her father was asking if Pakistan was falling economically which upset Changez. I did too, it felt like a awkward moment and if someone asked about my home being poor I would be mad too. Also, at the, end the American leaped to his feet when the lights goes off, which raises my suspicions of why the American is there.

I like how the author is telling the story through Changez's eyes, and it makes it feel like i'm living the dream with him. After Changex got the job at Underwood Sampson, he proved he deserved it by ranking first. Changez is also talking to a woman named Erica, whom he likes. He calls New York just like his home. I am very curious to see if anything will change Changez's perspective on the American dream?

On the first couple of pages, we are put into the voice of Changez. He is at a cafe talking to an American. What struck me, though, was that the American never said a word. It was always Changez who answered and talked. I thought this was interesting to show that Pakistani people have a voice and should not be discriminated against based on appearance. I am excited to read more and find out who the American is.
