It’s a 3,5 star read for me.

The first half was a bit slow but the second one had good pacing. The age gap definitly gave me the ick. Sainte also didn’t feel too fleshed out.

Here’s what I don’t understand: Sainte knew that Elspeth could potentially be queen one day and instead of hiding her somewhere where she would get an education or some training that she will need in the future, he hid her among a poor family with ten children.
Now he’s suprised that she’s not interested in ruling.

What’s the age gap we’re talking about here? She’s a child and he’s a soldier so maybe 15 years? That will he strange if he’s the love interest.

I’m in the mood for some romantasy.
