This is one of the first books I’ve had to stop reading in a long time. William Manchester is a very good writer; I loved his three volume (first two volumes by him) Winston Churchill biography. Without discounting his terrible firsthand experience in World War II, I struggled with the narrative he wrote. This may be what he needed to write, but I was unwlling to continue on give the nature of it.
