Slow to get into as it takes place in the 1800s. But by the end of the first chapter I was accustomed to the verbiage and found a good rhythm.
On war: “As I turn to what should be the happy obligation of opening my mind to my wife, I grope in vain for words with which to convey to her even a part of what I have witnessed, what I have felt. As for what I have done … these I do not even attempt to convey.”

Excellent spin off from the classic Little Women. I loved that it filled in the missing father storyline without altering the original story. Very imaginative and engaging.
