This episode with the river is a great example of white people not knowing how to leave haunted ass sketch ass places and situations ALONE

I really like that this book realistically portrays Touraine’s PTSD from fighting the Taargens beyond some glib “oh I have nightmares” bullshit. The writing makes it so so clear she’s unsettled and traumatized whenever they get brought up.

This book is an exercise in frustration the likes of which I have not experienced since Empire of the Damned and Red Rising. Which is a compliment to the author truly
