That’s what I ment about unclear rules of the priestesshood in this book. Two pages ago she thinks about sexual pleasure as “sinful and forbidden” and now she offers her partner to pleasure him orally. What is the cult she serves is about?

And I struggle with lack of information about the rules of this world. Why does the Commander have to keep his helmet on? But then he randomly puts it down. What are the rules for the priestesses and what are their wows. Why are they so feared and hated. I need more of world building here.

No. If this is a slow burn, where was ist burning all the time? There were no tension and no yearning up to 50% if the book only bits of attraction here and there. I mean, OK, the 99th Commander is very mysterious, but FMC is just horny.
