One enjoyable feature of this book is that each story stands on its own. This means a reader’s commitment to each story is limited to the chapter in which that story appears. At this point I’ve read “The Smile on Happy Chang’s Face by Tom Perrotta, Until Gwen by Dennis Lehane, A Taste of Dust by Lynne Sharon Schwartz, and Old Friends by Thomas McGuane. I have liked Until Gwen most from this set.
