How on earth is this book rated so high by so many? It wanders. It digresses. It doesn't seem to have an actual plot, and neither is it a distinct character study. I may DNF this.

I loved it, but I remember thinking “I don’t know who to recommend this book to” because it just seemed very niche and I don’t usually love a rambly plot that doesn’t come together until very late.
