My son was required to read this book in his 6th grade ELA class. I was interested to see what this book was about. At the beginning of the book I was leary because often the main character would say things like “suck it” or other crass comments to the adults who were in charge of reading his journal. However as the story progressed you see a beautiful story of a caring community unfold.
