It hasn't featured the daughter's voice since the letter in the very beginning. It just touches on measures Galileo has to take to protect his daughters from violence by enemies too cowardly to target him directly. More than a quarter through the body text, finally another letter is coming. I've kept reading because I'm starved for material about the topic of crappy vs sound thinking. The writing does flow well.

As a marketing writer, I miss out on long sentences that keep my brain activity running. So, it was with a breath of relief that I read Suor Maria Celeste's first translated letter of this collection. The rest of the chapter is Sobel providing historical context in a voice worthy of the letter. It did get me thinking about the 1600s' emphasis on worldview. And how the historical record favoured womanhood in this case
