Slow beginning, really setting the scene. Huge emphasis on em’ly the chicken that marks the start of a relationship between the narrator and the Virginian. Suprisingly many descriptive and academic words coexists and juxtaposes with the country accent of the Virginian and adds a certain ruggedness and manner to the novel.
