If anyone knows of a job I can do from Argentina, online, where I can use the God-given gift of giving recommendations as a paid position, please, let me know.

Being a broke tour guide is not paying the bills. I speak Spanish, English, and Portuguese. I have experience in translation, proofreading and redaction. Any suggestion is welcome.

Pranavi Hey, you should Google "online jobs of giving book recommendations" and there's a few links that pop up where you can get paid to write reviews of books, and it's all online. It's not the same as giving recommendations, but I'm sure there are online jobs for proofreading and redaction as well. Hopefully this helps!

Cintia There are. I'm in three websites of freelancing jobs but when you apply, no one answers, and when they do, they send you contact numbers to get you off the platforms without formalizing a contract. You work, you deliver, and they block you before you can get paid.

I've tried everything. Nothing works. I'm desperate

Pranavi Maybe there are jobs for publishing companies? Sorry I’m not of much help, I have no knowledge in this whatsoever :(

Cintia I'm a tour guide. No company will hire a tour guide

Pranavi Well maybe there are other jobs for tour guides that pay better?

Eloise What about a big international recruiter like addeco? They might have local or digital temp work. I feel like recommendations translate to research skills

Cintia I tried. No one answers, I'm screaming to the void

Job-hunting is the worst 💔

Cintia I am qualified. I've lead amazing tours in my city and worked for five years. I have a college diploma, a thesis, and three languages. But... it only led to a boss in an office that put the work of three people on me and then screamed at me because I couldn't work under pressure. And paying less than the minimum.

Self-esteem is not the problem. I'm very well aware of what I'm capable of, but no one gives me a chance to prove it.

Faith Cintia - Hi. There is an online book recommendation service called Tailored Book Recommendations. Their website is (without spaces) mytbr . co. Not sure if they are hiring, but you are tailor made for that job since you give such good recommendations here. I would also say you might be able to find work as a literary agent's assistant. Some positions are volunteer to start, but others pay to begin. Your knowledge of books would be especially helpful with creating comp titles for submissions to publishers. You could create a Fiverr account and freelance by offering to help aspiring authors come up with comp titles for their work though that won't pay a lot, at least at first. You could also try customer service for an online or by-phone shopping service like QVC or HSN. They like people who work for them to make recs. Catalog companies do as well, such as LL Bean, etc; they regularly need customer service reps. If you know social media well, you could see if any authors needed social media help; your knowledge of books could help you help them figure out what audiences to target (people who reads similar to their own). If you like making book content, you could create a YouTube channel and make book videos. If you link your channel info here, it will take less time to get monetized. A good place to start with YouTube videos with your talent is to make book rec videos like, "If you like this [name of book], you might like this [then list several names of books]' or genre specific recs like top ten fantasy, sci-fi, romance, mystery-thriller, etc. I don't know how people get started in book translation, but it's possible a book translator could need an assistant. If you liked it, you could work your way into doing translation yourself. Tutoring people in English, Spanish, or Portugese can be done online; you'd just have to look up companies that offer such services and pass their proficiency tests. This is what I could come up with off the top of my head. You are welcome to message me directly if you'd like to chat further about it. I tried to message you directly, but, quite frankly, couldn't figure out how to do it. I've sent a private message to a goodreads member before, but couldn't figure out how I did it. Not sure why. Hope the above helps.

Cintia Thank you Faith! I'll look it up. I had a Fiverr account but in one day I was contacted by ten spammers, I'll look into what you say
