so many times i’ve had to put the book down to say WTF but also so many times where i let the prose wash over me and have it relate to mankind’s existence.

what the hell…

the book is getting better. somehow the writing feels tedious but also not? you think that steinbeck will take you on a roller coaster ride but it’s more like sharp drops instead. i am truly looking forward to see how Cathy will affect Adam and Charles. we also haven’t gotten much of the Hamiltons yet either so there’s that. exciting exciting!

we got off to a slow start but i’m starting to get the hang of reading Steinbeck. the reason why it felt so slow is because Steinbeck chooses to introduce each of his characters, setting us up for a better understanding of their motives. also drawing some parallels to Wuthering Heights aaaaaaaa hahaha
