The more I think about it, the more I am coming to terms with them marrying. I realize Roman was just about to get married to a different woman (set up by his father). And they are also, technically, on the brink of death. They are both going to war and may die, so maybe this is more like shining a light in the darkness, while also confessing their feelings for one another. Even if it may seem like a lot... (imo)

"Love, Iris" and "Yours, C", among many other instances--they are not enemies in any sense of the word.😭 I know it's almost half way through the book, but with a typical enemies to lovers I would think that it would be further towards the end of the book when they begin to let down their guards...
I mean maybe Iris doesn't know it's him. *But*, Roman certainly knows.
