I love how the beginning of the book sets up, everything. The setting, the plot, the characters, the attitudes and personalities and the struggles. The middle of the book resolves conflicts while adding new ones and setting up the end of the book. The end of the book sets up the rest of the series with the plot, characters, and future struggles. I’m not done yet, but I love how well this book is as an introduction

I love how when there is humor, it’s done so well and realistically. The jokes land because they are so fitting for the situation.
I love how clueless but smart Clay is. I totally forgot how hard he is on himself and it’s something I really related to, especially the first time I read this book when I was younger.

I forgot just how brutal this book was the moment things go south. The chilling detail of death gives every instance it happens weight and meaning, no matter what size creature is slain.

I love Peril’s whimsical and clueless personality. I forgot how obscenely psychotic she was. I love how well she’s expressed like an aloof golden retriever who doesn’t know the atrocities she’s committing.

I like how each dragon’s personality is reflected by what and how they think. It’s really cool to see them working off of each other to find a solution to a problem in their own way
