gna finish this rn actually but i have to update every 5 minutes. i think my ultimate issue w this book is that it tries to combine a narrator who is detached from literally everything in her life + super flowery prose and it just doesnt work. like u could say Lucy dgaf abt anything except susannah but it doesnt make for a compelling read. also lucy is just boring #idk

this would have done a number on me and my taste had i read it in like 2022/2023 but now im just kinda like. Meh. Whatever. Lucy feels weirdly detached from the world around her despite waxing poetic abt susannah every other page and im realizing that detached narrators rarely if ever work for me ESPECIALLY IN 1ST PERSON like for the love of god. this is making me wanna revisit oranges are not the only fruit
