This book takes place in the future in which a lot of books seem to take place in the future. I think people like to use this common theme of futuristic stuff because it's interesting to think about. We don't have the technology, but just imagine what it would be like traveling space. This book isn't too futuristic it more of has just this one thing that basically puts people inside a virtual world. It's still cool.
