So when calculating the circumference of the earth (or one of the circumferences) we’re essentially adding, or integrating, the measurements of all these flat curves?

It """"should"""" touch only that point in the graph (realistically, if the function moves a lot you cant insure this but locally at least) in such a way that the slope of that line tangential to that point is the same as the slope of said point its touching
