Ewingerale and Fleydur are beginning their long, five day, five night trip across the sea. Towards the end of the chapter, the narrator says, "When they arrived, they would be surprised..." 3 times in a row. I liked this part of the tenth chapter because it is a good use of repetition in order to foreshadow later events.

Wind-Voice is celebrating his great accomplishment, and is delivering a speech. During his speech, he says, "We are all heroes." (249) I like this quote because it shows that as a leader, Wind-Voice is still humble, and does not wish to be empowering.

All the birds on the battlefield are waiting for the hero to emerge from the pyramid. "Come to us, hero," Winger whispered. (242) Winger is praying for someone bigger and mightier than him to arrive as a savior. As I studied the Jewish religion as a child, I noticed that they too were waiting for a savior, and they eventually found that savior in G-d.

Wind-Voice is having a battle with Maldeor. Both of their main goals is to achieve peace. However, Maldeor is trying to force peace. "Peace cannot be forced. There is no true peace under force," Wind-Voice said. (229) I agree with this quote because if peace is forced, it becomes oppression, which is just what it was before.

When Winger and Fleydur learned of Stormac's death, they cried out, "Stormac! A valiant warrior. A valiant death." (219) I like this quote because it shows how much the friends care for each other.

Stormac is dying after fighting pirates. He says to Wind-Voice, "Life's a battle, and I've lost." Wind-Voice then says, "No... you've won, brilliantly." (198) I agree with what both they said because Stormac has lost the battle of life regarding death, but he had a wonderful life and was a great warrior.

Stormac, Wind-Voice, and a random seagull they found stumble upon mighty riches in a cave. Stormac desires them greatly, but Wind-Voice thinks otherwise. "Those riches have an evil glow, you best not take them," he said to Stormac. I can relate to this quote because I have once desired something evil, but my friends influenced me not to take it.

Maldeor is refusing to drink Yin Soul's essence. "No! I refuse! You have brought me nothing but trouble," he said. I can relate to this because I wouldn't do something for someone else if they had done wrong unto me.

Wind-Voice is reading the Macaw's and Parrot's green Leasorn gem. "Peace opens the door," it read. I like and can relate to this quote because I believe peace is the answer to everything. If world peace were to come, and everybody got along, I would be the happiest kid on Earth.
