INCIDENT: The inciting incident so far is when the Germans invaded Western Poland. Julian was living in Warsaw when the Germans were invading, so his mom came up with a plan to escape. This is shown on page 3 where it says, "Mother and I were...disguised as peasants on the first stage of Mother's escape attempt from Poland." This shows that his mom's attempt to escape changed the story as a response to the invasion.
