finished the first part of the book and: i really like charis as a character even if im just like 35% in, love the atlantis setting and seeing her beginnings; i don't care much for elphin but still it's interesting reading about him and his family, and also how taliesin came to be, can't wait for the moment charis & taliesin's paths meet. So glad I decided to finally check this book series, i've always been interested as it presents a different perspective to the arthurian legend and includes the origin story of merlin (starting here with his parents), but i'll admit the reason i finally caved in was because of the show adaptation 😅 it's been nice so far but i've felt like the pacing was really bad and missing something, so i needed to read the books. and yeah, they omitted and condensed waaay too much in the show so they could get to merlin & the second book as soon as possible... I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but given how interesting, for example charis is, to see so little of her past... what a shame. So far the first book's been great, at least 4* at the moment (we'll see if it changes 🤠).
