thinly veiled Imagery - keeps bringing it up with no substance behind them

All the women only exist to give the men purpose. We are ment to feel the fear of Hatch, in his need to protect the women. But as someone who might relate to his wife im left feeling more bored than afraid. The perspective is constantly on a mans power, either how he feels powerless or the pleasure men feel from having power over others. Reading from the perspective of a non-man, its more boring than scary.
