I could not finish this book, and I very rarely do that. I was never drawn into the story or characters. Irving seems intent on stuffing as many historical tidbits as possible into the book, but there doesn’t seem to be any payoff or relevance.

His writing annoyed me so much that I had to stop. It seems completely unedited. I loved “A Prayer for Owen Meany” but this book was very disappointing.
