I have never read Joe Hill. Is he gory? How do you like it thus far?

I like this book so far, leaning towards a 3 star read but it's definitely more enjoyable to me than NOS4A2 and Heart Shaped Box, I didn't like either of those. Maybe a little gore? Not a lot.
