How is this?

It's decent. It goes beyond providing insight into behind-the-scenes production aspects to consider how the actual contestants try to game production as well and shape their own storylines, and does that in an interesting way.

The character work isn't quite as strong though so far. Our point of entry character is a trope who I don't think provides the most interesting way to tell the story, and the other contestants aren't really transcending their "types." Totally makes sense for a novel about a reality show to acknowledge that often contestants -are- cast as a certain type, but at least so far that aspect feels a little thin.

Aww. Okay. I already bought this on publication day and I have this very high on my to read list. A unique and interesting concept. As a former reality show lover, I think I will find it nostalgic at the least. Definitely will get to it sooner than later, flaws and all.

Ahh I gotcha - I had a lot of anticipation for it too for the same reason :) There's still a good amount of stuff I like about it too so hopefully you'll connect with it!
