This man tells Mildred she’s “the hottest piece of tail I ever had”. She rightfully gets upset and he goes “oh please I’m not a poet. That’s just how I talk. Stop being a prude 🙄” MONTY SUCKS

Mildred's problem is that she doesn't know how to say no. Monty is a privileged, jobless bum that looks down on working people, makes fun of her pies but she's still giving him money 🤦🏿‍♀️

Mildred let Monty get involved way too quickly :/

I’m very surprised about the amount of cussing, innuendos, references to sex and affairs in this book (Mildred complains about her ex’s “hussy” mistress parading around with no bra 😭; Mildred’s friend Mrs. Gessler advising her to date/sleep with Wally so she get her financial worries taken care of) . The Hays Code censored A LOT in the movie adaptation. Seeing the differences is really fascinating lol
