“Did you see all the diamonds those ladies wore?” sighed Jane. “They were simply dazzling. Wouldn’t you just love to be rich, girls?”
“We are rich,” said Anne staunchly. “Why, we have got sixteen years to our credit, and we’re happy as queens, and we’ve all got imaginations, more or less. […]”
That’s the kind of rich that counts.

I find it ironic that all of Lucy’s heroines like using italics and are told not to but Lucy herself still uses them. 😂😆
I would have loved to have met her, with the imagination she has given all her characters I feel sure she had a wonderful imagination herself. She’s a skilled author.

Chapter title: “A Tempest in the School Teapot”
Yessssss. 🥕😠
I had a conversation with a couple of my sisters the other night about the chapter titles of these books. I’ve read them often enough that I know what happens in a lot of the chapters simply based off the titles.

It’s so fun reading this and knowing the woman Anne becomes.

When you’re rereading a favorite for the 4th or 5th time and you suddenly make a brand new connection in your head.
So you know how Rilla’s full name is Bertha Marilla?
Well, Anne’s biological mother’s name is Bertha. And I never made the connection before. Or else I did and forgot. 😂

@Bella, yep! 😍 @Celia, I love the series but I’ve never enjoyed book 4. 😂 I think I’ve maybe read the whole thing once. I often either majorly skim read it or skip it entirely when I read the series.
Aw, I like book 4 because several of its plot lines were included in the movie version of Anne of Avonlea. My favorite Anne book... is actually Rilla of Ingleside. haha Anne's House of Dreams is pretty great though, purely based on the surrounding cast. What is/are your fave(s)?
In order of favorites: 1. Anne of the Island (because of THAT chapter 🤭🥰)
2. Rilla of Ingleside (I LOVE this one even though it’s heartbreaking)
3. Anne’s House of Dreams
4. Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea (tied)
5. Anne of Ingleside
6. Rainbow Valley
7. Anne of Windy Poplars
But I really love them all except books 4 and 7. I just get more bored with those two.
