Medium pace until approx 80% now fast paced and exciting. Hard to turn off/put down story

I love that the reader is constantly left questioning whether the supernatural or natural world is the cause of the events that occur throughout the narrative - could it be the devil as some locals believe or is there a scientific and real world explanation for the events like human actions and bugs etc.

This southern gothic body horror keeps twisting and turning.

But plan to listen to it well doing things around the house or driving

Sometimes I have a hard time with audiobooks because I get distracted while listening and then entirely lost in the story or only half listen but not actively listen so I hear it and process it in the moment but remember nothing later on
