In Chapter 2, the author helps me learn about Minangkabau customs. However, what surprised me is that in Minang tradition, women are judged from many different aspects. In addition, several dialogues also indicate the presence of a patriarchal system, in which women are always portrayed as weak. This is ironic, considering that lineage and inheritance in Minang custom are matrilineal.
