You don't understand modern art? Read this book. You don't so much read it as let it sweep you along from the 1930s to forties to fifties, etc., which are full of familiar events, but not as lived by these young, striving, fun-loving, tortured, physically hungry, professionally ambitious (though often aloof to markets and criticism) artists. Can't wait to see what they get up to next.
