I expected Murakami to leave many major threads unraveled but the loose ends he did tie up were worth the journey. Wild, ethereal, complicated (in an excellent way), dreamy, and dark. My past two experiences with Murakami were similar: evoked vivid mental imagery while reading and cleverly masked immensity/intensity with calm and subtlety.
