December 8… PDT saved the best for (almost) last. Probably my fav day from this devotional so far. This facet of the Gospel that he describes here was one of the very first truths that God revealed to my soul as a baby Christian, & I will forever treasure it dearly & hold it close to my heart. It is always so refreshing to be reminded of it again. ♥️

“Our High Priest understands what it is like to be a human being in this fallen world because, in an act of shocking, condescending love, he took on human flesh and lived with us as a man. … This means that our struggles and prayers are not greeted with harshness, condemnation or impatience, but with understanding and sympathy.” -December 7th

DECEMBER 3-“It is only by grace that we celebrate a lordship other than our own. Corporate worship points us to our need for and the availability of that grace.”

DECEMBER 4-“He willingly died for glory thieves (us) so that we would find our satisfaction in and live in service of the glory of God…He died so that that glory would be the final resting place of our hearts.”

“While he, in glorious dissatisfaction, still works to redeem us from us, we are out chasing other lovers.” December 2

“It really does take grace to know how much you need grace.” November 30

November 25: “I disappointed myself yesterday. I failed to live up to my standards. It hit me later that if I cannot live up to my own standards, how can I ever hope to keep God’s law?”

November 26: “‘Shalom’ means more than ‘peace’. It refers to things being in the state that God intended them to be in; in other words, ‘shalom’ is the way things were meant to be.”

On Rom. 3:20… “This hard-to-accept news is the doorway not to depressive self-loathing, but to eternal hope and joy. … So your obedience is never a fearful payment, but a hymn of gratitude to a God who met you where you were and did for you what you could not have done for yourself.”
