I dont understand why people say this is so well written? It's very basic, there's no flowery prose or anything that gives substance or soul. I did read that his other series might be better?

might dnf bc of the casual portrayal of women being assaulted, that's a hard no for me. And I didn't like the way the young boy described what happened and how he'll do it too??? excuse me? did I read that wrong?? and like yeah, I get the time period but I still hate how those actions are normalized and how men show no remorse for the horrors that women experience

Will this have good fight scenes?? I love a good battle and shield wall, and the new John Gwynne book doesn't come out till like next year, so I need something to fill that void
