As always, Tom Bombadil confounds and frustrates. He is somehow more supernatural than the elves, maybe because his magic (?) is so understated and 'natural'... I'm not even going to try analysing.
Frodo and gang trapped in the barrows. Totally forgot that part from the first reading.
