So interesting to read about federal troops being deployed to stop strikers in 1877. Intentionally, troops from outside of whatever city they were sent to so they wouldn’t defect and stand with the strikers. Obviously this is still happening with the national guard that trump is threatening to send everywhere as well as ICE and is a direct result of more national guard armoires being built after the strikes

Reading this and remembering learning in school that the slaves we’re freed in the south but not the north and wondering why? There wasn’t a clear answer. Seeing it laid out as a military strategy answers my question as well as provides an example of exactly the kind of things they want to withhold from education when they talk about erasing black history in schools.
